Ball Joint seals?
Anyone know where I could pick up some ball joint rubber seals without buying the ball joints? I know several people here have separated spindles and put them back together. I always seem to tear mine.

Re: Ball Joint seals?
The help section at the auto parts store should have them. Stop using the seperator and you wont rip the boots. If you just hit the spindle itself where the stud goes through with a 3lb or so hammer they will pop right apart. No need to endlessly beat on that seperator and tear up the ball joint.

Re: Ball Joint seals?
I found that the upper ball joints are the same as the 88 model and are available.
As I recall I separated the upper ball joint with my tierod end separator. The lower ball joint was the real PIA and I did try the BFH trick although I was not able to break them loose, hense the air tools and ball joint separator. This time when I go to taking it appart I'm going to try a mini hydraulic jack and see if it has enough power to do the trick. |

Re: Ball Joint seals?
Just hit it harder. loosen the nut just enough to let the spring pop the ball joint loose but you need it to be tight enough that it doesnt come apart. If all else fails get a bigger hammer

[QUOTE=cableguy0;4118522]Just hit it harder.
That's another problem. I've torn the tendens in both of my arms. It's been hard to heel between working (easy job) parting out trucks, parting out a house and putting it back together. Good thing I have a brain job for work, just don't ask my boss how well I'm doing |
