Post vacuum selector switch

Anyone ever had to replace the vacuum selecotr swtich in the heater/ac panel. My 86 C10 doesn't work correctly anymore. When you put it on defrost the air comes out of the dash vents. Now when you put it on vent the AC compressor is still running and it blows cold air out of the dash vents. The compressor does not run when you are in the heater position. Just wondering how big a job it was to replace.

Old Dave,

I have never replaced one of the vacuum switches. I have replaced the fan speed selector switch. Check all your vacuum connections under the dash before you start replacing parts. The easiest way I can see to replace the setup is to remove the dash bezel and the dash. Removing these two items will give you plenty of access to all the cable connections. I would say it will take a few hours to get it done.

if you are refering to the one that turns off the ac and alkl that i have replaced it. it is easy and is no problem to do. they are not even expensive,15.00 bucks at the dealer i believe. the contacts burn through the plastic therefore not making connections on the proper location for you want blowing. just take it apart and look at it it is really kinda simple
