Looking for Cab Dolly or One man lift in TX
I'm looking for either a cab dolly or a one man type of lift for a cab here in Texas.
I'm looking to either buy or borrow??? I've got a few trucks I need to dissasemble to get ready for the crusher and want to save the cabs. I remembered seeing plans for a wood dolly at one time If anyone has those plans I'd be interested in that too. Thanks, Thomas

Re: Looking for Cab Dolly or One man lift in TX
I just use a shop hoist (cherry picker) and remove a cab door. Take 4 straps and use the front 2 floor cab mount bolts and the rear 2 seat belt bolts to strap to and pick up the cab. Of course...the interior has to be removed 1st.

Re: Looking for Cab Dolly or One man lift in TX
I;ve used a roof beam in my garage to lift the front clip in my post but was Pooping bricks the whole time worried about bringing the barn down. So that wont happen again.
I'll order the plans to get one made and be safe but I was just looking for a fast answer as I'll need someting in September. Tonight I'll search for the wood dolly plans, I'm pretty sure I printed them out one time.

Re: Looking for Cab Dolly or One man lift in TX
I had these two red 2x6's from an old swing set so I slapped some 2x4s on them for legs with door hinges and braced it with plywood and misc wood. It worked great. I would probably use 2x6 legs next time to make it a little more stable. It's hard to see the two 2x6's at the top...
After that, I used a come-along, with 2x4s as spacers to keep the top of the door openings from bending, and then cranked her up and pushed the frame out from under and slid in the dolly. Did it with no help from anyone which was slick! |

Re: Looking for Cab Dolly or One man lift in TX
Just built a cab dolly (today) for my 71 LS1 swap truck. Made it 24" tall to make it easier (I hope) to replace rockers and some floor. Heath, thank you for the plans... worked like a champ... and only spend about 40 bucks including casters.

I built the cab dolley shown in the pic posted by my67chevytruck. I still have the cab dolley and will let you have it for $50. I'm right here in Manor. Just PM me if interested.
