LMC Chrome Center Caps - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just ordered a set of these and they are beautiful. But I can't get them onto my wheels. Do I just need a bigger hammer? Or is there a trick to it? LMC has no technical advice section.

what kind of center cap? pics would be great!

They're not the kind that go on a RalleyWheel. It's just a regular steel wheel. I'll take pics tomorrow and put them in. They look like about a 12 oz chrome drinking cup. If you have an LMC catalog they're on page 97 part #38-3765.

I'm not sure...but try a local wheel/tire store...they do it all day and have learned the secrets. I'm trying to mount some beauty rings right now without destroying them but having a hard time

Those center caps you mount from the back side. Remove the wheel, slide the cap on, bolt the wheel back on. They are made for aftermarket wheels, not factory steel wheels.

I've tried this but the hole in the middle of the factory steel wheel seems too small. So should I hog it out with a file or send them back?
Hey, I consider myself a Ford man. The truck is the only Chevy I've ever owned. But I'm not a fanatic. And I must say your "circled the problem" is the funniest put down I've ever seen.

I would not suggest hogging out your center hole. The caps you bought are not made for those types of wheels, yours are probably made for a dog dish hub cap or something. I'd send them back unless you plan on buying a set of aftermarket slots or something.

Unfortunately a lot of the NOS replacement parts just don't fit very well, or at all, copy of a copy, of a copy, converted to metric specs, copy and sell. it sucks for all of us.

Thanks to all who replied.
I have sent these back.
Can/t badmouth LMC though.
The chrome acorn nuts fit and look fine.
And the water temp gauge fit and works perfectly.
Luckily my truck is a Rusty Runner.
So fit and finish is the least of my worries.
Is there any possibility of getting air conditioning without it costing a thousand bucks?
I'm all ears.

NOS is not a copy of a copy...NOS is New Old Stock...meaning the original that was never installed not a copy of the original...
