stupid belt tension question

so I have power sterring on my 65 C10 and just for a pulley on the pump. Now I have a STUPID question.... how do I adjust the belt. The only thing I could tell was to loosen the bolt and the bracket andpull up, then tighten.... then adjust at the bolt at the pump. Is this correct?

My only concern is that I slipped and was able to push the PS pump out of adjustment with my hand.... is that bad or is that normal? Seems like there should be a way to "lock" this in place once adjusted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running a long water pump or short? Do you have all the necessary brackets for your pump style? a pic or two may help.

short WP.... here is a pic of my pump installed. Looks like I have the bracket off the motor (left), and the adjuster bracket (top) but there is no other bracket anywhere. I wonder if I am missing something, because if the pump came out of adjustment (or I push down hard enough with my hand), the PS pulley runs into the crank pulley. Here is a pic that may help.

Mine is set up a little different- one bracket cradles the bottom of the PS pump and the other attaches to the back of the pump and also the motor mount.

where did you get your brackets.... your setup looks much better than mine.

Those are not factory power steering pump brackets. Someone has cobbled those together. Try looking in either the classifieds here or on ebay. The power steering pump brackets for the '67-'72's will work and they are a little easier to come by.

actually, I found a slick bracket at Speedway Motors and ordered it. Nice, simple, solves my problems completely... and yes, cobbled together is an understatement!!!! When I took them off, they were ridiculous how cobbled they actually were.
