WIW and a couple questions

Have a guy I buy and sell parts to locally who's into our trucks. He offered me a 6.0 . Here is his email response to questions about it.

Quote:
its a 2004 truck z71 motor with 34k on it it has all pulleys and truck intake has the 2002 bbk throtllebody sowe you can have a cable on it after 02 they dont have a cble on body and you have to body the body and cable.. i have the bradeid cable to new is a must have if putting a old car ..he paid $680 for bbk and cable it is a drop in for a 67-72 truck for it is the same about same as a 68-72 chevelle he shouwed me the papers he had $2000 in motor $680 in bbk throtlebody and cable for old cars $85 in low mount a/c ... plus the computer $150 $850 painlesswiring but they are gone but all the wire plugs are there on motor just need computer and add some wiring.
It was a project to go into a chevelle but had the wiring and computer stolen by a druggie..... but supposedly the coils with wires are still there and not hacked up. I will of course check that out. Is there anything else to look for??? I don't think the comp and wiring is a huge deal since they seem to have come down in cost and I was going to send them out to be modified anyways. What else should I be checking to see if it's included (starter?, etc?)
Supposedly the pulley setup is all there including the parts for low mount A/C and in additon there is the BBK throttle body he mentioned. Anybody used those before and know of any issues with that setup? Anything else I can visually check without tearing into the motor? Block numbers to look for to verify year/size/heads? I am going through the FAQ now trying to look for those answers.

He's asking 1000....think I might be able to get it for $800. Is it worth it with the A/C part and the BBK parts? Thanks.

I wouldn't pay more than $750 unless EVERYTHING is there. If the trans is off it will have 6.0 stamped just below the head on the back of the engine. If it is a LQ4 or LQ9 look for 317 to be casted on the head .But I didn't think the 6.0 was available in the truck he says it came from. I thought 5.3 was the largest offered for that vehicle.

Re: WIW and a couple questions

Where can I get a 6.0 with everything for 750??? I want! Local junkyards want 1500 for engines with 190K miles (with no wiring or computer either)....lower mile units sell for 2500 up around here and shipping to me is a killer from TX where I see them cheaper...

Does the BBK setup not add value? Or the A/C parts? Just asking questions...not trying to come off rude...

My concern was also on the year and engine size...that's why I was asking for identifying markings/numbers to confirm it's a 6.0...

Re: WIW and a couple questions

Would it have LQ4 stamped somewhere on the block if it is a 6.0 or some other code designating that (like 6.0 stamped )

Been reading the FAQ and links provided in it and while it's an awesome source!!!....I haven't run across where to find the stampings to identify it on a block vs a typical sb350

I forget they cost that much more up north. I bought a LQ4/4l80e for $1k with 60k miles on it. Had everything on it but the truck. I see them go for around $1500 all the time with the trans. As far as the BBK stuff goes, it may add value to some I guess, but not to me. I just dont care for it.

Re: WIW and a couple questions

i would pass bud... just the way he talks in the quote saying drive by cable is a must isn't exactly true. just keep looking.

if you did get it you'd still have to find a tranny-$1000, computer-$300, harness $500, and anything else that isn't there$$$.

btw the block should be cast with a 6.0 behind the water pump and behind the bell housing.

specialized parts planet can ship you a 5.3-6.0 with trans, exhaust, gas tanks, EVERYTHING., for right around $2500 with a warranty. just a thought

Re: WIW and a couple questions

Thanks, I am going to hold off and wait for a complete package or maybe just use the 350/350 combo I have and freshen that up.....

A 6.0L block will have "6.0L" cast into the block on the end.

Depends. I got a freshly rebuilt 4L80E with converter for $400 on craiglist. I get 0411 PCMs in the junkyard all the time here for $25. Harness will be pricey, but not that much. You can have speartech make you one from scratch for $750 if it comes to it.
