Quick aftermarket carpet question

How far up the fire wall did your carpet go? Anyone have any pics?

The reason I ask is I have dynamated the floor and firewall up to the dash. I hope the carpet will cover it up so that I don't see silver backing on the mat.

Re: Quick aftermarket carpet question

Pick up some extra if possible. You will probably want a strip up higher in front from my experience......dont remember the manufacturer.

Re: Quick aftermarket carpet question

I just replaced my carpet this winter. It goes up to the firewall pad.--Jeff

near the end of the video in the last post (at the time) shows what looks to be the avg rise of the aftermarket carpets on the firewall. Not sure if THIS one is aftermarket, but that's about how high i've seen most carpeted trucks go - at least this will give you a ballpark.

I'd assume (and as they say, assume-ing can make an A$$(of)U(n)ME...) that you'd probably want to run the dynamat higher than the carpet goes because most carpets won't go as high as it sounds like you're wanting. But I completely understand you not wanting the shiny silver stuff showing, either - I'm the same way.

I have not done it - but seems you might ask whomever you're buying the carpet from for a remnant of the mathcing carpet - or if that doesn't work, ask to pay for a remnant - so you could tuck it under the "new" carpet on the bottom edge - and run it up as high as you want the back of the firewall/behind the dash. Not perfect, but a possible option.

Good luck, would love to see some pics of how it turns out whatever you choose to do - since I'm considering the same thing in the future. Holding off to save some cash for a tranny right now, so living the rubber-floor-blues. But kinda like it too, easy to keep clean because it's supposed to look dirty!
