Re: Small block to big block need help

only thing you need is the 68-71 bbc mounts and your good to go....if the 454 is running tall valve covers then youll need to move the motor forward one hole position on the perch locations to clear the master cylinder/booster....if this has to be done then yes you will need to re-do driveshaft and trans mount location also. Can also just go with this kit from Truck/Car Shop ( 63-1281041 $129 ) or any other Truck parts store that has that mount/perch kit.
I ran a 454/th350 in stock location with standard valve covers and even full length headers, had full clearance to the distributor and oil stick.

Re: Small block to big block need help

Depending on what class the motorhome is, you may be able to use the complete motor mount assembly from it. I prefer to use the '73 and up motor mounts myself. You can use the '69-'71 big block motor mounts, but they can be a little hard to find and a little $$ when you do find them. Check out protrash64's build thread on his Suburban. He installed a big block in his Burb using the later model mounts.

You will need to trum the top flange of the frame through the engine compartment for both motor mount installation and header clearence. You can use the headers for the '73-'87 trucks.

Re: Small block to big block need help

You will need a 454 flexplate if the engine doesn't come with one. Don't try to use the one from the 350. The 454 flexplate has a balance weight on it that you can see.

They will if you use the BB frame brackets.
