carb trouble...

well hey guys well me and dad rebuilt the carb on my 79 chevy the "blue goose" it has a chevy 250 with a rockchester varijet(progressive 2bbl) and we put the rebuilt carb back on and ever since it hasnt run right. well we got it to where it will run now but it will only run till the choke opens up then it idles down and dies its like it losses vaccume. so ive plugged and bypassed every piece of smog equipment just to see if i can get it to run but it wont run after the choke opens up it has been driving me crazy for the past few weeks and im hoping yall can shed some kind of lite on the problem i have

thanks josh

Re: carb trouble...

I would say go through the carb again. Those 2 Jets are pretty simple carbs. Something's not right. What adjustments have you made?

the only thing we changed was the flote hight. everything else we put back the way we found it, also when i first bought the truck it would set there and idle all day long and not miss a beat but it would stumble upon acceleration, now it will just run with the choke on.
