Sending Unit question
I have a 69 K5 and I dropped the tank. I took the sending unit out and it was a little dirty. the strainer was gone, but I have another strainer to put on it. My question is this: What can I look for on the sending unit that would tell me it is bad or not. The truck was not running or wired up so I could not check it that way. I really dont wanna buy a new if possible.

Re: Sending Unit question
You can use a multimeter set to the lowest value of ohms (continuity). You put one lead onto the terminal that the gauge wire goes to and the other lead to ground (any metal on the sender) and as you make the float move from empty to full you should see the ohm reading on the meter sweep from 0 to 90 ohms (or the other way, can't remember, but should read about 90 at one extreme and about 0 at the other). Hope this helps.
