Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
I've read alot about polyurethane front sway bar bushings squeaking. Rattles and squeaks make me crazy so.......Anybody used polygraphite bushings like Early Classic sells? How about pros and cons of stock type rubber? I'd like to do it RIGHT the first time.......no squeaks!
Thanks

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
Rubber bushings are just fine, but not as firm as Polygraphite. I recommend the polygraphite bushing instead.

If you're using polyurethane, the grease you're using can make a difference in the squeaking...

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
Do the polygraphite bushings squeak? I'll lube whatever I put on but what is best for the long run? These big blocks are front HEAVY! I have a couple go-fast units for diving into those tight turns, this one's more for showin off. I just don't want it to squeak. Stock rubber would be fine but better is better.

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
In my experience they can and have...my Pontiac 455 and 4L80E trans combination is probably comparable in weight to your BBC, and I run polyurethane sway bar bushings with no squeaks using the lubes I listed.

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
Polygraphite is a compound comprised of urethane and impregnated with graphite particles. In theory it is self lubing, so it should never squeak. I ran a set on a Blazer I was building and they were very quite.

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
Thanks to all for the info. I've learned more about these trucks on this forum in the past 2 weeks than I've learned on my own in the past 2 years.

Re: Front sway bar bushings that don't squeak?
It is a bit of extra work, but we drill into the swaybar mount strap and through the bushing, install a grease zerk, and use the correct lube. Dee Engineering now sells the mount straps drilled. Also, look for bushings that have ribs/grooves to hold the grease.
