What exactly does HEI stand for? I know what it does, just don't know what the letters mean

Yeah, tynee, don't be so hard on yourself, Man. Half the guys at my local parts store don't know what it stands for either, and I probably wouldn't have known unless I asked someone if I hadn't gone to tech school. High Energy Ignition it is..

Well I have to differ on the no dumb question
thing. I once had a guy at a gas station ask me how he was supposed to get a whole quart of oil down that tiny little tube.... he was serious and he was no kid. He meant the dipstick tube. Now I understand that when you don't know how and really need to know it shouldn't be a dumb question. I also understand that when we fill our trannies we dump it down a dipstick tube but I still gotta say I thought it was a pretty dumb question when the big cap with oil written on it was looking him in the face.

StingRay! Don't you know about the tranny filler cap?!?! How long have you been filling your tranny through the dipstick tube? What are you, some kind of idiot?!?! J/K  I recently pulled that on my friend who likes Mercury Comets. I had him stunned. He almost went out and checked! LOL Tynee, the only dummies here are the ones who never ask questions and always think they know the answers, and are willing to fight for their ignorance. This site is perfect for learing new stuff. I have more fun anyway when I get on this site and finally just say "OK, I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Anybody know how to <INSERT_SUBJECT_HERE>?". Don't get me wrong guys. When the guy asked I was very polite and helpful. I demonstrated filling the oil through the filler cap and sent him happily on his way with his oil topped up. I didn't make him feel stupid for asking. I was none the less stunned by the question. It's just that I can barely comprehend a mature individual having a drivers license and not nowing how to add a quart of oil to his engine, fill a car with gas, fill the windshield washer fluid or add air to tires. I know that there are lots that can't change a tire either but it still bugs me. There are certain basic skills that come with operating a motor vehicle and I believe the above mentioned are included in that list. Heck my wife figured out how to change her valve cover gaskets and the igniter module on the coil on her Toyota before I met her.
