Re: rare?
Maybe a dealer option? My truck has speakers in the kick panels in front of the door. But I've never seen ones IN the door.

Re: rare?
Jeff (BigBlock73) would be the expert on these. I remember him posting pictures of them in the past.
I don't really care for the look but they do look better than most. I'd probably grab them and list them on eBay if nothing else.

Re: rare?
These speakers are factory installed;I believe they were 1980 only and came when the optional stereo radio/8track/cassette(RPO UM2,UN3,UP5) was ordered.
They came matched with the rear cab corner speakers. For 81 up the front speakers were move to the dash top corners;the rear cab corner speakers remained the same |

Re: rare?
Factory, I think they were offered in 79 and 80 only.
I have the same setup installed in my 73 (77-80 panels). Thanks to board member Russell. If you go back to get them, I would be interested. The speakers are mounted to the door panel with a metal mounting bracket, the grill itself is screwed to the metal mounting bracket. There will be jute(?) padding between the back of the speaker and door itself. The door panel is cut out to clear the speaker. Grab it all, door panels too if possible.
