does any one in here know if i can get the original color of my 87 from vin if not from where then thanks

Look for a code begining with WA in the glove box.

If that tag is not there you can call local chevy dealer with your vin and they can give u the paint code

I came across a book at a local surplus store that gives the available paint options for each year. This is the book:

Amazon.com: Chevrolet Pickups 1973-1998: How To... Amazon.com: Chevrolet Pickups 1973-1998: How To...
That might help if you don't have the glove box sticker. Or, if your truck is still original, post a pic. Someone here might be able to help.

VINs don't carry color info.
VIN's contain information as to the Make, Model, Year, number of doors, country assembled, and plant assembled. It can also contain the upgrade package

Note - VIN standards were not adopted and enforced until 1981, so any vehicles made prior to 1981 do not have a "readable" VIN that can be decoded for this information.
take you vin to a chevy parts dept and they will tell you the color name.

check the door tag, it should give you more info including color
