Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Well I'm sure theres a couple other threads about this but I just can't seem to figure out what air intake would work/look good under the hood of my truck. I've always just had a 90 degree tube with the MAF and air filter off the end of it. First it doesn't look good and second the super hot air from the Efans blows right into it. Not good for the IAT's I'm sure.
Here's a pic of the intake right now, I was think of running a intake tube with a box on the end over to the drivers side behind the core support.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Great looking engine bay!!! I'm just starting on mine and have a near identical setup in mind but was going to use some black 4" drain pipe, the PVC type not the flexi garbage, and put it over to the corner like you said. I was thinking of cutting some kind of hole in the core support out of sight and behind the headlight sort of. Not to poke the filter into but just so it can get direct cool airflow. Damn your engine looks nice man

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Hmm, I actually liked yours or one with just the filter. I didn't really think about the heat issue though.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Well its not too bad but I just don't like the angle it has to sit at because it hits the belt tensioner if not tipped up at that angle and the heat issues.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
This one is a Spectra kit I got from Pep Boys. It is P# 9900. I took the straight piece and flipped it backwards (from its normal install position) and then cut off the mount to make it bolt to the radiator hold-down bracket.

I like the looks of that, epically because I just checked with the O'Rilleys store and they've got one. might pic that up tomorrow!

I like that too. If I hadn't already started on mine I would have probably gotten it! Looks sweet!

NOTE: I am running Speed Density, no MAF. the MAF that came with this junk yard van motor was about 5-6" long so it would not fit between TB and radiator. probably have better chance with a 'regular' MAF but I like the SD stuff, one less sensor to mess up.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Hers mine. 2 90 deg big truck steel elbows welded together. Used rubber unions from intakeelbows.com with band clamps from same. Cut hole in core support next to headlight to let in cool air. Battery moved to drivers side.

Here's mine in a '49 GMC
The other side Laid out on the shop floor. Still a little tight with a MAF, but I may go speed/density so it won't matter anyway |

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
I used the original LS one for a while but noticed the baffled silencers hit the fan shroud and kicked the whole thing up a little.
So I found this cheap kit on eBay for $49 an decided to use just the main tube and rubber couplers. I like the stock air box better than the open filter so I merged the two together. Clears the mechanical fan as well. Happy with the results but do not like the shiney pipe. Will probably have powder coated satin black soon.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
I have also started modifying the stock one. Cut off the baffled silencers and started fiberglassing up the holes.
Might go back to this one if it turns out good enough.

Re: Air Intake, what are you guys using on your swaps?
Is that a kit for a Silverado? How tight is that elbow? I had to remove my upper shroud because there is not enough room with the factory setup. My engine is slid forward to allow room for the A/C in the lower position. D.D sliders almost all the way forward.
