wire id please
just got a 72 highlander and am going thru the engine bay. I know green wires are usually temp wires(the one on the left), any ideas what the other 2 wires are for? There's a temp sending unit on each side of the block. First pic of sending unit is on pass side other is on drivers side. I'm just trying to get engine to run or start, after a compression test, fresh oil, new gas, plugs ect... before I decide whether to keep the truck or part out. Thanks

Re: wire id please
Probably one of the TSC relay connectors. TSC was a crude emissions device that retarded the ignition spark in relation to engine vacuum. It came out in 70 or 71 IIRC.

Re: wire id please
The one on the pass side head is a switch for the TCS (transmission controlled spark) Only allows vacuum advance in high gear and when up to operating temp. It has usually been removed from most trucks that had it by now.

Re: wire id please
VetteVet- This set of wires is in the original harness and is located in the rear of the dist. area, it won't pull over that far. Thanks tho!

Re: wire id please
TCS transmission controlled spark hook up, I'd say thats why there are 2 temp senders also.

Re: wire id please
I agree with the others above, it is for the TCS or TSC stuff. That is why there is two temp senders. One for the guage and the other is for the TSC. I found some paper work that explains what id does and how it hooks up but I can't find it.
