Smog ?

Can anyone tell me if a 78 had a smog pump? The one I'm looking to buy doesnt but not sure if it was removed.

Its a 1/2 ton short step 350 / 350 4V, with headers. I 'm worrried about getting it smogged.
VIN CCL148Z157357.

Thanks

Steve,

I know in 78 all pickups under 6000 lb. GVW, had converters. I'm not sure on A.I.R. pumps though. Does it still have the emissions sticker on the core support? If so, it will tell you every thing it came with. If it's a California truck, for sure it did have everything possible on it for emissions. At least everything that was standard for Californial emissions in the 78 year. As you know, California is another world when it comes to emission laws.

I bet you could take the VIN to a inspection station and get them to run it through their computer to find out what it came with also, if it is an original Cali. truck.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

My 79 didn't come with one but did come with a cat even with it being a Big 10. Also mine wasn't a California truck which could have caused it not to have a pump.
