Left side negative and right side positive camber
Hi guys!
Today i finished my front drop...i mounted 2,5" drop spindles and 2" coil springs! Ive mounted the wheels..8x15 with 3,75" backspace and 1" spacers! And now im wondering why the left wheel have a negative camber and the right side a positive camber?! Can anyone tell me whats wrong??? What can i do??? Regards Sascha |

do you have the same amount of shims in the upper controls arms on both sides?

There is a lot of different reasons that can give you that situation but that does not mean anything is wrong. Just take it down to get it aligned.

@mike: i dont know. I look tomorrow i the amount is the same on moth sides!
And tomorrow i make some pictures. What is when i have the same amount of shims in the upper controls arms on both sides??? I think..than i have a big problem?! Or i could take away some chims on the right side...than i could have a negative camber on the right side!? Or im wrong??? Sascha |

Guten Nacht!
I recommend that you take the truck to be aligned. I would think that you will end up with very few shims in the control arms. Ask the alignment shop to set your truck on their alignment equipment and try to get as close to the setting I suggest and see how close you get. You might have to make two visits to the shop to get the truck to drive properly. Alignment issues should be to make the tires wear correctly first and drive well secondly. Sometimes after lowering a truck the toe setting will be off alot, and cause a visual that make you think the alignment is off alot worse that you think Camber 0 degrees caster 1 positive degree toe in 1/8th toe in If you get this far and PM me I will try and be more specific Where are you in Germany? cparman,... I always thought you wanted alot more positive caster. Like 5 degrees. Or as close to 5 as you can get. My last static dropped truck,... was at approximately 4.7* positive caster and it drove the best of any static dropped truck I have ever owned.

The less + caster you have, the easier it will be to steer when you are parking. But if you have power steering, go for the gusto, as much + caster as possible to give you stability on the highway

# of shims in each side of the control arm doesnt mean anything other than just that.. same #. Just have it aligned by a good shop....
I lowered my truck with McGaughys lowering spindles, nothing else... before my alignment was perfect as I am the one who did it... drove it for 4000 miles before I lowed the truck. After the lowering spindles installed I noticed the camber was out of spec just by looking at it... put it on the rack and re aligned it. If i remeber I had 4* caster on the left side and 4.5* caster on the right (so the truck would steer strait due to the crown of the road). Camber was 0 or maybe just a tad -, and the toe in was very probally close to 1/8.... I am going to re do it and make it like a 1/16 due to my tires showing signs of feathering. clint

A bone stock truck will not have much positive caster. The world according to me is this:
Tire wear is first, and positive caster is second. Like someone said the more positive caster you have, you will have better stability at speed. My stuff is : 0 camber or a tick negative ( less that .5 negative) caster is around 2 degrees, with more in the right to compensate for the crown of the road Toe setting is factory |
