Junkyard Score!
I went to a local place today and did well! I found a grill for my Jimmy from a 74 truck in great shape with only one cracked mount. As I was helping my cousin pull something from one truck, I happened to look in and in had a tach dash! I got that and the grill and walked out a happy man. I was able to get the harness for the tack all the through the firewall. Great think about it is that is out of a 4wd so has the light for that and it was in an 1980 3/4 ton. I needed the grill. I'm not completely sure I will use the tach cluster yet since I have a TBI motor, comp and cluster, but I couldn't pass it up. I also got a set of gmc jimmy fender emblems from a board member recently so I'm starting to get all the stuff together that I need to start finishing it out.

Re: Junkyard Score!
Trolling junkyards has become a bit of an obsession. Moreso since I joined this forum. Now I have a better idea of what I'm looking at/for. Just like the cluster; before I might have just looked it over. Now, I know I had to get it considering so hard it seems to be finding them. I look for new yards to go to all the time.

Re: Junkyard Score!
Did better than me. I went to the junk yard to look for a temp gauge or cluster and found nada. Out of about 15 trucks they were all picked clean. Nice score though!!

Re: Junkyard Score!
SO I didn't want to count my eggs before they hatched but while I was pulling the first tach I noticed that another truck a few spots down had a tach cluster too. I didnt have the money then so I went back today praying that it wasn't gone. It was there and I got it. It is not in as good shape as the first one. I haven't had a chance to look at either one close but this second one has a rattle inside and what looks like silicon on the circuit ribbon. I don't think I've ever seen a tach cluster in person before yesterday; now I have two of them! Dumb-arse luck. I also picked up a pair of really neat looking wing window locks. I've never seen anything like them before. I'll take some pics of them and see if any of you have seen them before.

Re: Junkyard Score!
$17 for the grill and I got all of the screws and the plastic things you screw them into. I also found some old KC light switches in the same truck too.

Re: Junkyard Score!
I'm not sure. I've been wondering if the first tach cluster will work with my '87 set-up. I'm not sure yet.
I actually went back today to help a buddy get a bench seat. Found out a little on the yard. It's only been open for a month which explains why the trucks are still pretty good. I also found a set of door panels that I want to go back to get. I hope they're still there.

Re: Junkyard Score!
Anyone know much about these mirrors? They seem to be all aluminum.
