3 spd transmission suggestions?
I have two teeth missing in the counter gear in my Muncie 318 (4 bolt side cover) 3 spd transmission. This is the truck that my father drove to work every day, and I want to keep it stock (I learned how to drive on it in 1971). Chevy c-10 fleetside, engine 230 CI, 3 speed manual transmission, no overdrive. Any suggestions?

Re: 3 spd transmission suggestions?
when i was in high school the welding teacher's old crash box in his '65 bit the dust. he bought a later sycro 3 spd from one of the machine shop students that got it from a wrecked nova. we were gonna swap it for him after school. when we saw it it wound up being a bw st10. he was gonna give it back cause he didn't want to hack up the floor for a new shifter (which didn't come with the trans) any way, one of the retired army guys that was going to school at night studied on it & came up with a solution. we installed the trans & he modified the linkage to fit the shift levers on the side & installed an electric solenoid on the reverse lever. you had to leave the shifter in n and then flip a switch for reverse to engage but it worked. that old 283 sure liked that column shift 4 spd!

Re: 3 spd transmission suggestions?
These transmissions are pretty easy to work on. If you have the service manual it pretty much walks you through it. I would pull it apart and get the stuff you need to make it as good as new and you will save some money in the process.
