New guy/truck
Just wanted to say Hi.
I just signed up today. I bought a 72 Cheyenne LWB 1/2 ton last weekend in Wash state. Driving it home it was cruisin like a dream. 350 +/- miles into the trip, I look down and the oil pressure gauge that read nice and high for 300+ miles was pegged (the wrong way). By the time I could get off the road (traffic), clickety-click turned into clackety-clack. AAA and a cell phone and at the next exit gas station, no amount of fresh oil in the empty crankcase would cure it. I'm heading out from Denver Friday after work with a rented Ford E350 van to haul it back from Pendleton OR. I know what it's gonna look like, a Ford pullin a Chevy... but I just want to get it home. 72 PICS Mike |

Ginter,
Sorry this had to be the subject of your first post. I am curious, being here in Washington, where did you buy that truck from? It does look nice.

Huge bummer on the incomplete road trip.
On the positive side...it sure is a sharp rig. You're in good hands around here, plenty of people in your neck of the woods too. |

I flew into Seattle and the owner drove it up from Olympia. I drove down to Portland to see some friends and headed out 84 from there.
The truck has rusty cab corners, and the bed has some rust, but it drives out very nice and solid. A few minor repairs and a motor and she'll be on the road again. |

Welcome from
Hmm take some close pics of the cruise system for people to see.. and myself... would like to see pics of areas that there is mounting and routing of cables. Is it listed on glove box sticker as an option? Looks correct and whole truck looks sharp. or you can email them if you like.. Thanks Rod chevytruckranch@hotmail.com

Very cool truck. You dont see many factory black trucks. I just watched that sell on ebay, had it been closer i would have bid on it. The slotted mags are way cool too!!! I would like to see a pic of the glove box sticker also.

That's a pretty slick ride. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Quite a few guys, that use this forum, live in your area and I'm sure if you needed help, they would be available. I'd say you came to the right place.
You need to tell that truck it had better fix itself up... and... Welcome from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. |

I hope its nothing major in the motor, but lack of oil usually does some pretty bad things to the motor, Welcome from Canada!

it looks like a stock cruise set-up to me, it has the cruise master box and the separate servo, and some of these trucks came with the cruise button under the dash as opposed to being on the end of the turn signal knob

Welcome from Washington State (hope you don't thing were all like the guy selling you the truck....)
Nice Truck, sorry to hear about the road home................ Let us know what you find wrong........ My current ride pegs the needle when I start it..............then drops back....never saw that before so I'm keeping an eye on it................ Did have a truck once that looked good on the out side...............But later went down due to poor maint. from the previous owner.............took out the motor, trans, and radiator before I could get stopped............................

Actually, I don't blame the seller. Haven't told him the story even. 5 out of state cars in 3.5 years and one 30 year old truck with 200k+ miles and one rebuild didn't make it. Not too bad relatively speaking. The risk you take ya know?

Made it home Sunday at 0515. 36 hours out and back. I just need to find a (cheap) motor at least for now.

Great you made it home without problems...this time. Great looking truck...too bad about the engine. Diagnose the problem and see if you can't do a temporary fix while you find or build a new motor.
Best of luck!
