Newbie from Portland, Or
Hi there, I just recently discovered this forum and when I saw how great it looked I joined right away. I have already got some valuable info and it's great to see all the projects. I gives me some incentive to keep moving ahead on my project. I have a 66 LWB C10 with 133,500 original miles on it. I bought it from the son of the original owner 12 years ago. I drove it a little for about 4 years and then the clutch went out. I didn't really have the place or time to do much work on it at the time, so except for going out and starting it up occasionally, it sat for about 3 more years. About 5 yrs ago we bought our current home with a double garage with room for a small shop. I pulled the truck in and started the tear down. A lot of "life" got in the way and I just recently have been able to do some serious work. I plan on a complete suspension overhaul and a small block engine. I plan on fixing the small amount of rust through in the normal places and then put it together and drive it with the great patina for awhile. I've got 2.5 in. drop spindles, a 1 in. drop coils, and disc breaks up front insalled. The next move is to turn it around in the garage and start on the rear suspension. I've included these pics and I hope to be around for awhile. Thanks for letting me share.

Welcome fellow Portlander! There is quite a few of us here and we've been hoping to get a meet up soon, but I guess we really haven't tried that hard...haha.
That looks to be a super straight truck.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
thanks for the welcome, everyone. I did notice a few Portlanders here while checking things out. Maybe we can all get together one of these days. This truck was a pretty lucky find. The guy I bought it from inherited from his dad who bought it new. He didn't want it so put it up for sale. It was about a block away from my girlfriends house and I got it for $675. Here's a couple more pix.

Hi there Gresham neighbor. I live right on the edge of Gresham and Portland so we are close by. I think I have seen your truck on the streets, could that be true? I'm still along way off from being streetable but maybe we can meet up sometime at one of the runs or something and compare notes.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
thanks everyone for the welcome. I went to the Portland swap meet yesterday and scored a power sterring gear, pump and all the brackets, etc. for $50, so power steering is in the near future. I put the truck down on 4 wheels for the first time in 3 years this weekend. I'm ready to turn it around in the garage and start on the rear suspension. 5" drop in the rear, changing to 5 lug, and a few other goodies. I'm going to be out of commission for a few weeks for medical reasons but I'll be keeping up on the site while recovering. I hope to get back to working on the truck in a few weeks.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Well I survived my surgery and I've been keeping up on the goings on around the site while recovering. I've still got some restrictions on what I can do but seeing all the progress on here is driving me nuts. I thought I had a power steering gear and pump from the swap meet but that fell through. I actually went into surgery right after the swap meet and couldn't get in touch with the guty that had it and it was gone when I finally was able to call him. I've been keeping an eye out on Craig's List since and I located what I needed this week for $45 out of a 79 Chev and picked it up yesterday. I've also ventured out into the garage and have been doing some prep on some small parts ( bumper brackets, motor mount brackets, etc) just to satisfy my need to be working on the truck. I hope to be back in working order soon and get some serious work done. I want to get the rear of the truck torn down and start the rebuild.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Sorry to hear about the medical issues ... Hope all is well ..
You may have seen mine around the Gresham area , hard seeing it sit at the present time .. Didn't do anything on it after the swap meet , my wifes car was hit , so find parts , replace , and get back on the road ... So my left out to dry .. It would be fun to set up something at a central location and have a picnic , bar-b-que , volleyball , b.s. session , etc .... A big meet and greet and preview session .. Get Well Soon !!!!! Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Hey 62, thanks for the well wishes. I'm sure I've seen your truck on the streets. I live just off 181st at the edge of Gresham, so that area is my stomping grounds. I think it's a great idea to get some of us Oregonians together sometime. At least meet up at one of the cruises or something this summer. Let me know if you hear of anything going on that you plan on attending. A lot of times I hear about them after their over. Keep in touch.

PIR Beaches? What/when is that?
Not that my truck is much to look at, but I certainly like to see others.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Sounds great, Oregonians. I was thinking I might drive over to Hillsboro this weekend if the weather looks decent. Of course I won't have my '66. It's a long ways from being a driver but being the car nut I am I always enjoy seeing others.
