Question powerglide fitment?

New to the forum and just bought my first 1966 chevy shortbed. The truck has a 250 cid with a powerglide. I was wondering if I can install a 1989 chevy 350 block to the powerglide? Will the flywheel bolt up right? will the trany bolt up right?

Re: powerglide fitment?

You will have to use a '86 and newer flexplate on that '89 350. I'm pretty sure that will have the correct bolt pattern for the PG torque converter.

Smile Re: powerglide fitment?

Now here is one you might want to try the power glide and the th350 are the same size and bolt up the same one has a kick down rod and the other has a cable. The best thing about it is the th350 is a 3 speed one more gear. Now they made 2 th350 one is a lock up converter and one dose not you should really look into it there are a lot of th350 out there and if you want a major kick in the pants try the 700R4 now you have gas mileage and a over drive Now you need to cut down the drive shaft and move the cross member back

Here are the transmissions i;m talking about the power glide the th350 the th400 and the 700R4

Now remember they made 2 power glides One for the truck witch has the small nose cone and the car power glide that has the long nose cone not sure if i had both of them in my pictures so take a look remember the 1987--93 are the only 700R4 you want the ones before it they need to many valve body and case updates

I need to take better pictures for you to understand what they look like and i will do better for ya i need a week to get them all out and lined up and cleaned up so you can see the differences
