Speedo cable a little short
I am trying to get the few things finished to roll this truck out under its own power and it seems the list keeps growing. I am working on putting the speedo cable on and its a good 8" short. It was just tucked up in the frame when I got this truck and now I know why. The truck has a 700R4 in it and I need something to reach. A foot longer than stock would be good. So what are you guys using?
Jimmy

Re: Speedo cable a little short
Jimmy:
I don't have a 700r4 so I am unsure what type of ends it uses. I had this problem when putting in my T85N which is a 3 speed with overdrive. What I found at the junkyard that worked perfectly was a foot long extension on 80's surburbans and silverado's on the transmission end of the cable. Apparently in the 80's GM used these extensions pretty extensively because I saw quite a few in the junkyard. The extension had one male and one female end and screwed on to my stock cable then on to the transmission. Have a look in your local Pull a Part. regards, Steve New Orleans |

Re: Speedo cable a little short
63" should be the 2WD length, and 83" is the 4WD length.

Re: Speedo cable a little short
as long as you have the same mechanical gear end on the trans, you can get one at O'Reilly for $12-$18 (just bought one and hooked it up last week - lengths up to 80" available)

x2 or autozone. Just got mine there at 77" long with the option of a 90" that would have to be shipped in. was only like 12 bucks
