Are you looking to stiffen the front of your chassis? If you are, you can do forward strut tubes with a front motor plate. This is what I did for my project. And, to answer your question, yes, it is generally a custom fabrication project.
Forward struts: Cardboard templates: 0.25" thick 6061 cut out and mocked up:

Mostly I was thinking just for core support so I can remove the inner fenderwells. I havent got to the point of "needing" them yet, just looking for ideas for when I do finally get to this point.
