Brake line/fitting sizes?

How do you measure or know which size brake line fittings you need? I have a 67 CST 1/2 ton that I twisted the passenger side front line clean off with the nut attached and am not sure what size I need to buy to replace it? Any help?

Re: Brake line/fitting sizes?

Stock brake line size is 1/4" for your truck. You might be able to buy a brake line that is close to the length you need so that reflaring is not needed.

Re: Brake line/fitting sizes?

Then would this be the right sized nut I would need to connect to my brake line hose?

Re: Brake line/fitting sizes?

You can use a piece of string along the existing one to find out how long it is. Take the other end off and make sure the fittings are the same size on both ends and just head to NAPA or whatever parts house you use. They stock many sizes. You will also need a tubing bender to shape it to match the old one.

Think I'll just take the whole line off from where it connects and just take it to NAPA or where ever and let them help me out...I think I've totally made the process harder than needed due to lack of experience...but by doing it this way I think I'll finally have it straightened out!
