Just got my re-chromed cluster back

I like but I sent this thing towards the end of Nov 2010. Was originally told 6-8 weeks. I have no problem w/ it taking a little longer to get it right but Im not too sure it was. In some of the pics you can see a difference in texture around the holes, as if they couldnt get in there. I feel I paid enough to get exactly what I want but at times I can be too picky. I know it will bug the crap out of me when I look at it while driving. Other than that I do like how it came out. What says you?

Re: Just got my re-chromed cluster back

i may not be looking at the right thing in the pics - but to me, the rough texture areas look rough like they should be and the smooth areas look smooth like they should be. I think it looks nice!

But I know what you mean - for what we pay for stuff nowadays, we expect a quality job - sometimes we get it, sometimes not. Had the same issue with a set of original 65 imp ss bumpers I sent out for re-chroming. They came back real shiny, but in the areas where the license plate goes, I could still see fresh grinder marks all over. Behind the plate, probably nobody else would care - but if the doucheknuckle had spent just a few extra minutes or been a little more careful - well.... I know it's not easy to do - and they did a hackuva better job than I could have - but, my point is, I feel your pain. You're not being picky. Or we both are. Anyway - I think your dash piece looks pretty darn good.

I agree 100% with you jocko I like the textured and smooth areas but right at the base of the gauge pods its not the same, sort of like a ring. 2nd pic shows what I mean.

Re: Just got my re-chromed cluster back

A! now I see what you're talking about - not perfectly uniform in the textured area near the base of the gage rings - I get it. It could just be because it's so new and shiny and it's how the light hits it - i.e. it might even out a little over time as it fades(?) If it actually FEELS like a different texture, like it was a worn surface before they plated it, then probably not. But I do still think it looks pretty good. Does that chrome face go behind a plastic glass sheild/cover or is it fully exposed in the interior? I'm not familiar with that dash.

Looks good, I see what your are saying, that probably came from the buffing of the side of the ring...

Re: Just got my re-chromed cluster back

its fully exposed, no cover. I was also thinking over time it will correct itself. The rear is how it all was looking but they did the roughing up to get that texture, as if they couldnt get the tool or wheel in there. Know what I mean?

Re: Just got my re-chromed cluster back

Im pretty sure it was not black but similar to what I asked for. from all the photos I seen and other clusters that is what I'm thinking it looked like.
