i priced the Mark IV under-dash kit from Scotts Hot Rods...they're a forum vendor here...they have a thread in the Vendor's Marketplace section dealing with A/C...i was quoted for a complete kit...i have since tried to contact them here via PM as well as email with no luck...i was wondering also what exactly is included in a "complete" kit...just wanted to make sure everything I need for A/C is included...i plan to keep my factory Deluxe heater....if i don't hear back, i guess i'll give them a call...A/C is not at the top of my list right now, but i'd like to add it in the near future

That is the inside unit. You will need a comp., Condenser, & receiver/drier to go with it. Plus hoses. They are sold either way. You can get a catalog from them that lists all the different models. I put the Compact II in my 70. It is an all in one unit. I used a factory comp. & cond. from a salvage yard. It works good.

that sounds pretty darn good. I looked at it - includes compressor, bracket, drier, condenser. Hmm.....

While I hate to gum up my engine compartment with a/c stuff (kinda kills the "mood" of the ol vette valve covers and dual quad setup plans...) it is friggin hot here most of the time (I'm two valleys west of Death Valley). So, a/c might be in my future - and if I HAVE to get a/c, I really really like the old look of these units. Have looked into them once before but didn't like how far out they stuck into the interior - THEN, I saw another install recently where the face of the under-dash unit was almost flush with the dash - looked really nice. So, I may have to investigate a little further and take some measurements. Nice looking piece of gear.

Oh yeah - now I remember why I steered away from this system - one of my goals was to get that goofy looking monstrosity of a Deluxe Heater box out of my engine compartment when I installed a/c.... This unit is only the a/c and I would have needed to retain the heater. So, only one bird with one stone and the gigantoid heater box would remain.... (that's just me - I know some folks like their abraham lincoln-lookin hat box of a heater, but it does work well!) All depends on personal taste, and mine has left me with an a/c dilemma! Suppose I could add the under dash unit and then replace the heater with the Thrift version or some other smaller option - there are multiple threads on here about doing that. In the desert, the heater isn't really necessary anyway, but I probably won't live here forever...

Not to knock VA, but My dad has Old Air in his crew cab and I have it in my truck, hot when it is supposed to be and cold when it is supposed to be. the only issue I have ever had with it is the o-rings on the hoses, make sure you oil them and be careful. Do that and your good to go!

Old Air Prod is like 5 miles from my house, when I installed the system several years ago, I took it to them and asked a ton of ? and they never hesitated to help, great customer service.

Unless your trying to do this on the cheap, I would pass. but my truck had one similar to that, unfortunately it didnt work.
