67 drop spindles

I have a 67 c-10 with 6 lug drum brakes, my question is if i can get a 2.5 drop spindle that will convert my truck to a 5 lug disk is there a reason to change to the 73-87 control arms and crossmember? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 67 drop spindles

No need to change those parts as long as you buy 63 to 70 drop spindles. You will need to do something with your brakes though, because you are going from drum/drum to drum/disk. WES

Your best bet is to get a conversion kit. Around $650 and up depending on manufacturer and what is in it.

If you're serious about the conversion, you can also scrounge a 71 and newer front disc brake setup complete. Sometimes you can find them in salvage yards or check the parts for sale forum on this site.

All the 63-70 "conversion" spindles use the HD rotors. (1.25" wide version)

I always purchase '73 rotors, bearings and calipers.
It saves alot of confusing at the parts store.
(especially if you tell them your truck is a '67).

Just tell them your truck is a '73.

Re: 67 drop spindles

$209 for the spindle
$219 for the brake part kit
$139 for manual master cylinder
CPP
4 bags and metal plates for the front at suicide doors.

Doing the same thing right now on a 67 C10
Just need the dust sheilds and hoses from your NAPA

I think the 71-87 HD rotors are all the same.
The 71-72 calipers are higher priced than the 73-87 calipers.
I like using 73-78 calipers because they use a 7/16-20 banjo bolt on the rubber brake hose connection.
I believe the 79-87 calipers use a 10mm metric bolt.

Since you are using 63-70 conversion spindles,... you will be able to use stock '67 balljoints and tie rod ends.
It makes for a very simple install using these conversion spindles.
