70 and 72 frames
I have a frame from a 72 that someone torched off the cab mounts. Can I use the cab mounts from the 70? I just started a project for my son. Thanks, Ben

Re: 70 and 72 frames
yep but it might be easier to swap the disc brake front end and be done with it

Re: 70 and 72 frames
Yeah, but the cab will be changed. There is no floorboard. So was trying to save time by getting a better cab and then putting the cab mounts back on the 72 using the 70 mounts. That was what I'm thinking. He is only 12 so we have a while to finish this. Maybe I'll drive it too! We have been 6 months gathering parts to put one truck together. But now will also have 2 trailors too! I'll put some pics on here tonight to show how bad it's rusted.
Thanks, Ben |

Re: 70 and 72 frames
well good for you and him....just my thoughts would be scrap the cab ( keeping all the small parts) once you get to the bare (70) frame your going to strip the frame for paint/powder coat or?? so might as well rebuild the front end with the disc brake parts..
what ever you decide make sure what you want in the end.....if your going to be doing a drop ( like most) spindles are the BEST way ( doesn't mess with steering geomotry) so front end parts arn't the issue....the best $$ you can spend now is on the roller...then find GOOD body parts to stack on top of it.... I guess it boils down to a plan start to finish and plan to double your budget...it always happens...lmao..trust me! just look at my build?? Jeff
