also im looking at craigslist 350 motors for around $500 and tranny 700t for $100 but probs need rebuilt shout i just save my money and buy a truck that runs?

i would get something that runs. i bought my first truck in pieces and i regret it because i did over pay on some items and its still not running.

its ok to dream. since you want a 4x4 why not just get a decent running one at a price you can afford. that way you can drive it around as you get the cash to do your dream mods. Try to do it all at once and you may get in over your head.

Its great to dream. It comes down to your ability and drive to get all the work done in a reasonable amount of time. I personally would wait and spend $2-$3 grand on something that runs and go from there. Most of the guys on here could tell you stories about a two month project that took years, or isnt even done after many years.
