Shocks
Anyone know what the best touring/towing shocks a person can get for a '85 C20 with a 454, i.e monroe sensa-trac, kyb, etc.?

Re: Shocks
I had KYB Monomax on my last truck, because they were advertised as being the best for heavy engines like a diesel, and for snowplows. I had both and ate up a set of cheap Monroes. I was very happy with the KYBs.
I have Rancho RS 5000s on my 82, mostly because they are what's most available for lifted trucks. no complaints yet. I put Explorer Pro Comp ES 5000s on my 04 Avalanche 1500 last year, didn't like them at all. Too stiff.

Re: Shocks
You might research the different type of shocks available. I had some Edelbrock IAS shocks which really improved the truck ride and handling in a 2000 1/2 ton Silverado I owned, but they are very expensive. I have old Monroe shocks on my 83 C20 454 and they have held up well and ride nice. I think any brand name heavy duty shock made for your truck will be satisfactory, but if you want better performance for the truck you will have to pay for it.

Re: Shocks
I tried to get the Eldys but was informed that these are discontinued. Is there still a source for the Eldys? If so where? How about Bilsteins?
