Need help ID'ing a brake caliper...
Here we go again...the 69 has disc brakes on the front, obviously it did not come with them and I need to replace a caliper.
I went to Autozone and picked up one for a 72. (It is the one that looks new in the pictures). It is identical to the one on the truck, except where the hose attaches. The hose has a square flat end on it (also pictured), rather than a round end where the banjo bolt goes in. The bolt fits both, but the hose is not going to bolt up to that caliper because of the ridge going around the hole. Can anyone tell me what year caliper I should try next? Would like to keep the same hose if possible.

Re: Need help ID'ing a brake caliper...
Autozone lists the same part number for the passenger side caliper from 71 up to like 85 or so, but I have read here about people using the 73-87 brakes for conversion vs. the 71-72. What is the difference?

Re: Need help ID'ing a brake caliper...
Seems like I could just grind off that ridge, rather than spend a bunch of time looking for an exact replacement...

Re: Need help ID'ing a brake caliper...
Feel like I'm talking to myself here.....
Anyway, I think I solved my mystery, after hours of looking at pictures on parts websites, it looks like the calipers and hoses I have are 1971 ONLY ITEMS. 72-up uses the new caliper I have pictured. I will be taking it back tomorrow and ordering the 71 part, and we'll see what I get when it comes in. Wish me luck!

Re: Need help ID'ing a brake caliper...
You are correct. You need the late style hose or early style caliper. Good luck!
