how much should i tighten my new cab mounts?
phew... just gave myself a hernia getting the new cab all lined up on the frame. i got all the cab mount bolts in just need to tighten them up a bit more, how tight should i go?
now its time to get the doors on, then core support, then gas tank, wiring harness, then steering column and i can move her in the garage to start bagging her. its so nice having spring break to work on my truck!!! |

Blake, I wouldn't tighten them until you have the front clip all lined up and adjusted to wher you want it.

i dont think theres that much play in them though? i figured most of the adjustment would be in the actual front clip. anyways ill take your word for it since im sure you guys have done this a few times before, theres also no reason to have it completely snug at the moment. |

tighten them enough to keep the the cab square. Tighten everything after front clip is mounted. I tightened mine a little more than cdowns recommended but I also did a lot of repair with all new cab mounts. Sure is quieter with double insolation and all the holes fixed!

Like what has allready been posted, leave them loose until the nose and FRONT BUMPER has been installed. If the cab is off a 1/4" by the time you get to the bumper the front of the nose is 1" off center.

I bought a "double insolation" kit from LMC. I also put down the heaviest weight carpet I could buy from the kits available at Summit. Finally, after we removed the gas tank I also ran carpet up to just below the window. The engine rumbles, but I ran 2 1/2 all the way back to the bumpers as my friend's truck with flowmaster 40s was just on the edge of being too loud. I think insolation is one place a lot of guys cut corners. All it takes is some cardboard for templates and a little spray glue.
