Re: motor build

Yes all of them have been done and are being done.

If your just wanting a mild driver, then the 5.3 with a performance tune and headers will provide you with around 350HP.

with a cam and the above, your looking around 400hp or so.

The stock heads should work fine, they are aluminum and flow fairly well, there are more better gooder heads out there though, I think the 317's are on the LQ9 and they are sought after. not sure if they would work on your 5.3 or not though.

The 4l60e will need to be built to handle the hp and torque I believe.

Ignition should be OK as is, unless your are planning to use a carb.

I have a 4.8/4l60e and I estimate the HP at around 300hp without a cam, just tune, headers and Cold Air kit.

Re: motor build

Anything you can name, has been done to these motors.
Heads, cams, intakes, TB, and exhaust stuff are all pretty standard fair around here.
There are a few guys going bigger; prochargers, turbo, nitrous etc.

If you want to see what these engines can do, check out LS1 tech. They have every combo you could imagine at some point or another.

Re: motor build

Heads, cam and intake would really wake it up. Ported 243/799s or some small port AFRs or Trickfolws(205cc intake port) would work. There is always the option of a stroker kit.
