Exhaust tip through fender

I have a 66 step side I want the exhaust tip to exit through the rear fenders I'm looking to do a very clean job maybe a trim ring around the hole. So I'm asking if anyone has any ideas on tips, trim rings or anything that would help. I have not seen any step side trucks done this way. The picture shows where I would like it to exit.

(I need some pictures)
Thanks

Re: Exhaust tip through fender

I'm not through the fender, instead through the step

If you want to cut a good hole, I'd recommend getting a threaded hole punch from harbor freight or similar. It shears the metal almost perfectly and they come in a variety of sizes. Plus it doesn't heat up the metal, or warp since its supported. They are pretty inexpensive as well. Import places sell stick on trim rings, but they are pretty ugly.

Here is a thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=377873

I'm not a big fan of the exhaust through a panel for a street car/hot rod. Unless you install a wide flange for the opening, you run the risk of damaging your paint.

ya. My exhaust runs out side the frame, then kicks up a bit to exit out of the step area on both sides.

Re: Exhaust tip through fender

I like the idea of going out the rear of the fender like you are planning. I think it would be more quiet in the cab and the exhaust won't dirty up your wheels.

But here is another option for the step exhaust exit that I thought looked pretty cool (but I wouldn't want to be barefoot on the step).

An idea....
Inserted in rear fender or above step plate.
2004 Mustang GT-R Concept Exhaust Tip shown below.

From the web.

Stacey David did this on a truck when he was on Trucks, but I can not find any pictures or videos of this.

Re: Exhaust tip through fender

There is a company that sells through-the body exhaust tips. These certain type through the body exhaust tips are only available from Stylin' Trucks. Perfect for roll pans or straight through fender or your bed.
The through-the-body exhaust tips require a little cutting to install, but the results are worth it according to them.

Re: Exhaust tip through fender

If they were big enough, '56 Buick portholes would finish it off nicely. You might be able to make something that looks similar out of tubing that's larger than your exhaust tip. Sort of like a frenched antenna?

Reverse light trim rings would work if you were going straight out the back. I did that on my '60 Olds when I ran the exhaust through the bumper.
