big window tinting woes
guys,
i went to 3 different window tint shops today to get my windows tinted, so when i do get my a/c unit, it will help keep the inside cooler. all three places did a test section and said the outside wrap areas of the rear window is a huge problem, even when making a vertical slice near the corners. have any of you found a place that was able to tint your big back window ? i know they sell tinted glass now, but dont want to spent that kind of money... thanks leonard

Yes we tinted dads (out of the truck, and I had a shop tint mine in the truck. It can be done.

Re: big window tinting woes
do they still sell the aerosol spray-on window tint?
I used some on bus windows a number of years ago and it worked OK FWIW justplainray |

Re: big window tinting woes
I had my rear window (big window) done years ago with no problems.
The only problem was when we went to install it, the painter thought it would look better and cleaner without the tinting (he has done several of these trucks). I was there to help and we discussed it and I agreed so I removed the tint prior to putting the window in. |

Re: big window tinting woes
A true pro tinter uses a heat gun to get the tint to conform to the curves. You just have to find a pro.
I have a local guy that can easily do it, but that doesn't help you much. |

Re: big window tinting woes
I owned a tint shop for many years, and it can be done. Not many guys can do it because it takes some time. I did it with one pc. of film. Some of us guys that have been tinting for several years have a few tricks. Don't let em do it three pieces, you'll see it. That's the difference between a pro and a rookie!! Gosh, Your in Florida-shouldn't have trouble finding a shop to do it. Good luck.
