s10 frame swap??

i would like to know more about this swap. pros and cons, level off difficulty, and possibly a rough over view of what has to be done. i already have perfectly good panels from a 53 wheat truck that i was gonna put on a 53 swb frame. so what would be the best way to go?? thanks for any help

Re: s10 frame swap??

Just my personal opinion....
I've done a Camaro clip on a 54, and I'm about 75% done with a 53/S-10 swap. And if I had it to do over on a third truck it would def be the Camaro graft again or possibly a MII. It's MUCH easier IMHO.

What he said ^^^

Plus the "big" truck cab, hood, and fenders are different than the 1ton and smaller trucks. the fenders have much larger openings for the big wheels on the wheat truck... just something to think about.

Re: s10 frame swap??

so will my panels work on a smaller frame? i thought just the inner fender was bigger. but the cab and hood should still work right?

Here's one done with a big truck cab and sheet metal:

See how the hood comes to more of a point vs the more rounded look that the smaller trucks hoods have?

Here's a shot of the 48 1/2 ton I built that shows the difference on the hood and the cab sheetmetal that matches it:

Hope this helps. As you can see, it can be done but it is a different look.

Re: s10 frame swap??

Post up a picture of it first. I guess I'll throw this in that just because it's a wheat truck doesn't make it a big bolt. Maybe it's a 1 ton, and therefore have the smaller front clip.
