Hood spring removal

How hard is it to remove the hood springs? I have new inner fenders I kind of want to install, but the hood springs are the only reason I haven't done it yet. Any tips/tricks would be appreciated

Re: Hood spring removal

A lil trick i did to remove them was, theres three bolts each side and start with the bolt in the front of the hinge the then the middle then loosen the back one and it will pivot down! it will take the the pressure off of the spring, and then you can take the spring off! do the reverse to put back on!

Re: Hood spring removal

i take that back theres only two bolts and it pivots backwards, remove the bolt above the spring, the loosen the back bolt! i wasn't looking at the picture before i said anything! putting it back on in reverse, put the back bolt in then the spring then push down in on the front of the hinge to put the front bolt in!! sorry about that didn't mean to mislead you any!!

Re: Hood spring removal

Here’s an earlier thread with a variety of opinions. I’ve done them both ways. The latest method was to eliminate any possible chipping or scratching, which can also be avoided with the rotating method if done carefully enough.
