Where to cut? Rear frame horns
I am gonna be installing a custom rear bumper on my 72 Jimmy. I know there is a demand for these so people can weld them back on. How far back should I cut? Im thinking between 6-8" back. Sound about right?

Re: Where to cut? Rear frame horns
Can I be first in line for your rear frame horns? Mine were trimmed for a step bumper. Thanks, John

Re: Where to cut? Rear frame horns
I would think as close to the rear body mounts as possible...
You can see the body mount your pic.... ![]() I was thinking of replacing the rear crossmember with section of box tube (2x4 or 3x5.) Then I could tie into that with the rear bumper and hitch... I want a bumper basically like your bumper here but with the receiver in the middle... ![]() |

Re: Where to cut? Rear frame horns
Most people want the last 11-12" because they are replacing ones that rusted out on the rear body mount. I've bought 2 sets and paid about $20 a set, plus shipping.

Re: Where to cut? Rear frame horns
Before you cut them can you send me a measurement from the end of the horn back to the brace . Trying to reattach a pair to factory specs. Thanks Pat
