PS hoses
Ok, I put on a new to me PS box from a 87 chevy 1/2 ton and I need to know what hoses I can buy (what years), that will fit from the box to the pump on a 65 c10. Im on a budget so I really cant go with the flexible SS hoses.
I have the pump mounted low on the drivers side and its just a regular old Saginaw pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: PS hoses
I used a '71-76 box, so I used '75 model hoses from my FLAPS, fit like a glove. You might start w/87 hoses.

Re: PS hoses
If the box is '87 it will use o-ring style hoses (1980 and up). The power steering pump should match the box so the fittings are the same....if not the fitting can be changed in the pump if you can source an o-ring type fitting. The power steering boxes used flare fittings up to 1979.

Re: PS hoses
I have the 87 lines but I cant seem to get the lines bent correctly to be able to use them on this truck. I already changed out the fitting in the back of the pump to the O ring style. I was thinking that someone here might have found a set of lines from another year that are close to the right bends to work. Any suggestions.

Re: PS hoses
It will probably be a little trial and error. You didn't say what engine you have, and weather it has a short or long water pump. If your engine configuration isn't exactly the same as the '87 application, the hoses won't be a perfect fit. You might look at some from the earlier '80's

Re: PS hoses
Hope this picture helps. I know this is an early model 60-62 witht the "long arm" P/S, but the hoses would possibly route the same way as an adapted truck, which btw I've done also. I have not mounted my DS inner fender as of yet (this week end I hope, the fenders will be here soon), But I'll do the same general set up.

Re: PS hoses
Found my photo:
It is easy to take a brake tubing bender and bend the angles to shoot under the fender well. I had plenty of room. |

Re: PS hoses
Thanks for everyones input as always! I finally managed to get the 87 lines bent around so they would work, not perfect but safe and it doesnt leak.
