Help Please

So I have been reading a lot on this forum about the Turn Signal Switch and before I drop the coin on one, I want to get your opinion on if you think mine is bad.
My right brake light is not working. The left works. The tail lights and blinkers work on both sides. The only light not working is the right brake light. I have checked every fuse. Replaced brake light switch. Checked the ground. Looked for lose wires. Anything I am missing?? Anything else I can do to verify its the turn signal switch? And where is the best place to buy one? My local NAPA wants $130.
Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Help Please

If the blinkers work, why do you think you need a new turn signal switch?

Get a stick long enough to wedge the brake pedal down so the brake lights come on, and then use a simple circuit tester, starting from one end and work yourself all the way to the other, checking if you've got power all the way.

Re: Help Please

sounds like a faulty contact in Turn signal switch in the "neutral position".. Since you say that the turn signals work on both sides that verifies proper wiring from the switch to the lamp (same circuit for brake lights). there for in the neutral position the right side light contacts are not working properly.

Re: Help Please

I got mine from Classicparts.com

A heck of a lot cheaper than everywhere else online and in-store.

Cool thing is its gonna be the exact same one you pull.

Here's the link:

The reason you hear that is that you know the bulbs are good (both tail lights and turn signals work) and so you know you have power and ground there for the same reason. All the functions for brake and turn signal go thru that switch for priority between flashing and brake light operation (same filament on the bulb). What goes bad often times is the centered, or neutral, position in the switch, causing intermittent operation of the brake lights. So you would have good tail lights, turn signals, but either some or none on the brake lights. If both were out I'd check the brake switch first but you replaced that, plus one side works so the switch is doing it's job. That leaves the turn signal switch. I just replaced mine from flea-bay for 65 bucks.

Re: Help Please

I get most my stuff local.

Ask around and see if there's a local dealer near you.

Re: Help Please

Thanks for all the help!! I wanted a few opinions before I spent the money. I went ahead and ordered one from Classicparts. It is way cheaper than I was able to find local. Thanks again...
