'67 C-10 2wd to 4wd, need help with a plan
Well, I have a bagged and bodied '67 on 24's and have about said buy to bags. My plans were to ditch the frame and biuld another. I have another '67 swb that's a 1/2 ton 2wd that I want to build up. I of course need a tranny/T-case, leafs, axles, and other basics. I know I want 37's and from my rock crawler club I have access to distributors for parts I need, discounts, and the help I need. One buddy said I could get leafs at cost from him. What leaf would I need to clear a 37in tire?

how are you doing the 4x4 leaf mounts on the 2wd frame? if stock 4x4 mounts, you'll need about 6" of spring laf for 37s. I have about 4" lift and clear 35s. Also depends if you want it to clear at full articulation, or just be drivable. I could probably run 37s but would rub at full turn and compression.

I have guys in my crawler club that'll help setup and weld the leaf brackets. I'd do a front shackle reversal on the front while I'm starting from scratch on the frame leaf mounts. It'll be a mall crawler and never offroad unless it's very minor or just for pictures. I have 2 rock crawlers so no need to tear a good C-10 up.

shackle reversal on the front? do you mean use a set of rear leaves and set them up as reversed? normal front leave setup is already shackle down, and the leave have no arch. So your front lift will come from arches leaves, and or longer shackles. If you dont plan to go offroad much, you may get away in the rear with just the shackle flip and maybe an overload leaf added. The front will need arched leaves, and there were some guys have take 52" rear leaves, removed the overload, and put them upfront (thus some lift from the arch), but the length s different, so be prepared.

Shackle reversal, if the stock C-10 4x4 have the shackles for the front at the front bumper these will be put at the rear under the front of the door area. As far as a flip kit on either axle I won't do this because my axles will be from another truck, and the leafs may not be C-10 either. I'm just seeing what lift over stock C-10 I'll need so I'll know what leaf arch and lift I'll need. I could get a 4x4 frame but I won't be using anything off it so unless the frames stronger or different in a way in which I need I'll stick with 2x4 frame I have.

stock 67-72 front setup is shackle in rear, by the door. I guess it doesnt matter for the 2wd frame. Just be sure to reinforce the steering box area. the half ton frame were a bit thinner and prone to crack. good luck!
