Body panel advice!

I am thinking I have to replace some fenders and bed sides of my '64 long bed and have been looking at the parts list in the LMC catalogue. Has anyone ordered any of their parts and if so, what was the quality like?

I understand it will have shipping scratches etc, I am more concerned if they actually fit or not.

Thanks

Re: Body panel advice!

most all of the sheet metal I believe is being made by the same people and then distributed to diffrent dealers, at least thats what I expirenced from places like LMC , chevy duty, truck shop ect... the quality was good but you normally have to "massage " the pieces to get to fit good.

Re: Body panel advice!

Ok, thanks. sounds like they are good enough as replacements and then let an auto shop take over from there then (I don't know how to do the body work).

Re: Body panel advice!

Also there is a forum vendor named Top Banana that sells all the repair/replacement body parts. I have bought from both Classic parts and Top Banana. A few of the parts from Classic parts I was not happy with. I did not complain nor send them back, and I probably should have. If you do receive something you are not happy with, I would recommend contacting the seller, and see what they will do to make it right. Unfortunately, 90% of the repair/replacement body parts are made in China.

Re: Body panel advice!

You could plan a trip to the Carlisle fall swap meet and get nice original stuff. I got most of the stuff I needed to do my truck and the prices were better than the repro stuff. I got nice doors core support and a grill suround the last trip. I have used some of the stuff from Top Bannana and it fit better than I was expecting. I also got my bumpers and chrome grill from them and the chrome is very good.

Re: Body panel advice!

This link should help. I got a lot of stuff from Steve Almeter, goes by Arizona Parts. I called him a head of time and he mad sure he had what I needed before I made the trip. There were several folks in the spring that had some nice parts.
