Any info on Old Air systems
I have been looking at places that make ac systems to fit my 65 and ran across Old Air. I did a search here and could not find anything. Is anyone here running one of there systems, and what do you think? I like the way it looks and the components looked well made.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
I have one in my '66. I had it tested and charged yesterday. Both the a/c and the heater/defroster work great.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
I have had one in my 65 for 12 years, and my dad has one in his crew since 2006, both are working great, no issues. I live about 15 miles away from their office, so its easy to get thing when I need, if I need.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
My experience with the Old Air Hurricane system wasn’t quite as encouraging as others. Details are in post #8 on the following thread:

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
Thanks for the info guys. I am going to keep researching this stuff. Got a while to go before I need to decide what I am going to use. Any feed back on what else works good in these trucks is welcome. AC for this truck is a request from wife and daughter and grand daughter. We all know if the women in are lives are not happy neither are we.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
If I had to do it again, I would go Vintage Air. Nothing against Old Air, but Vintage Air has a real good product and is a little ahead of Old Air.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
There was a thread not long ago that said something about Vintage air developing a new system for our trucks. Anyone know anything about that? I saw on there site last night that they have a new one out for 67 to 72.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
Here's the Old Air system in my '66. So far, with the 100* days we've been having in Texas, it's worked GREAT ! It will blow your hair back on High, and cools very well.
My dad has an Old Air system in his black '32 coupe and it cools great as well. We put an Old Air system in his '47 Hudson truck, his '53 Studebaker custom, and his '55 Chevy wagon. Needless to say, we're very happy with Old Air a/c systems. -Aaron |

I have plenty of time so I will wait to see what Vintage has in store for our trucks. Thanks for the info.

Re: Any info on Old Air systems
This was from another thread i posted on about a month ago.....
I was not very happy with my old air kit. I lived in Shreveport Louisiana untill 2 yrs ago. It is almost always humid, didnt matter if it was 95 or 35 deg. So de-humidification was paramount. I called tech support and asked If I could run the a/c and heat at the same time (this is how most cars made after the 90's do, esp when you put defrost on). Their reply was yes. It took some modification on my part and was not very happy with the results. The biggest knock agaist the unit was it does not flow enough air. It did get cold enough and it does get warm enough again just not enough flow (end result is still sweating when riding in the truck). The kit they sold me was complete and I didnt have to buy much to install. I felt the controls were ok (mimic the factory style control panel) but didnt like the way you adjusted the temp of the heat. Its controled by a valve in line with the heater hoses. A blend system (mixing cool and warm air) is much better at controling and maintaining the cabin temp. I will be removing the old air evaporator and replacing it with a gen iv kit from vintage air. I think the additional money would be worth it to start with the vintage air IV kit from the begining. I also started with the kit on a 283 and used it with the 5.3 swap as well... Graham
