White paint for bumper/rims.

Hey can anybody fill me in on what color white was used on the bumpers/grilles/cabs/rims of these trucks?

I just got a rear bumper in primer and was gonna paint both bumpers and my rims.

A GM color name or paint code would be very helpful.

Thanks

Edit: Did some digging and looks like in 1964 GMC only listed 2 white paints, either White 8080 or Ivory White 8290

Re: White paint for bumper/rims.

The Ditzler (PPG) code was 8290 ivory. I'm in the process of doing the same thing to my truck. I ordered a quart of acrylic enamel from TCP Global for $29.95 plus shipping. Probably not the highest quality paint in the world but works fine for bumpers and wheels.

Thanks for the info Mark, nice to have that cleared up before buying some paint. I was actually planning on using acrylic enamel for a more "original" look.

cheers

Hey thanks for that extra info aerotruk. So based on that second color sheet (61-68) Cameo White and Ivory white are the same color?

Re: White paint for bumper/rims.

They make a powdercoat to match. You could have it done for about $40.

I actually wondering about this. Had a couple bumpers PC'd a while back and the coating was bullet proof. Sure wasn't $40 though....i'm in Canada, multiply all costs by at least 2 or 3!

Hey JimmyDean, Where is a good place to get powdercoating done in our area? I'll also be looking to get bumpers and a few other items powder coated in the near future.

Re: White paint for bumper/rims.

Well, I used to do it myself but when I didn't, I would take things to Continental Coating in Tualatin . Haven't been there in forever, but John shot a few frames that were too big for my over and did amazing work. He also used to blend me custom powders to use at home.

I have a nickel metal flake clear that I will be doing some stuff with soon that I got from him.

<edit> John charged me $200 to do a K5 frame and some related parts.

So it says on the Martin Seymor paint chip sheet. I have no way of verifying that. I called Dupont directly in the eighties and they gave me the recipe for my Brigade Blue paint code. They told me that anyone who mixes their stuff should have the right mix codes for all years.
