My first try at paint.........lol

You know I own a body shop and I have never tried any type of paint in my life.Till this evening, when my guys left today I told them I was going to practice on an old fender we had,They laughed I told them if it turned out to bad that fender wouldn't be here in the morning for them to make fun of me when they came in to work........I may just hang it on my office wall..........lol

I have been playing with over reducing to help get things to lay down better. Fender looks good though...

Re: My first try at paint.........lol

I noticed I was getting some orange peel as soon as I started spraying the clear......So I immediately started laying the clear down very heavy and was able to flow it out with hardly no orange peel at all. I guess you can't be scared to pour it on.

Re: My first try at paint.........lol

nice job Ronnie!...woulda never guessed you've never painted before...too bad mine's not ready or i'd bring it by for one of those discounted amateur paint jobs...but my luck is that you'll keep practicing and be an expert by the time mine is ready, lol...keep up the good work

Wow, that came out great! While I would offer my own truck for practice, I too need the practice so I'll just keep her for my own for now...... Nice work!

Re: My first try at paint.........lol

I take it you sprayed the fender on a rack while the fender was laying down?
Then you just hung it on this rack to take some pics?

Hard to spray a base red without getting overspray all over the floor and rack.

Looks good though!
