1972 c20 shortbed???
Looking for some input! One trip to the pamona swap meet i saw an all black 1972 shortbed 3/4 ton layed out towing a two car trailer, and ive never forgot it. So Im thinking of choping my truck down to a short bed and using the bed it has now that is super clean and has the side toolbox and a aux fuel tank for a trailer and getting a short box for the truck and doing a flip kit with step notch and tow/helper bags over the axle.
The front get the drop spindles and bag the front or lowering springs. The truck is a full option truck 402/th400 and power everything except windows and locks. The finnished project, i want it to be a clean truck that can tow anything. alot say keep it longbed and low and some say cut it??? thanks for the input, Oscar |

Re: 1972 c20 shortbed???
If I had your truck it would be a slammed "single cab" dually on 22" semi wheels.
VERY nice truck. Keep it a longbed!

Keep it a longbed so it will still be a good truck to tow with.

Re: 1972 c20 shortbed???
Another vote for longbed. If you really wnat a shortie just go buy one. Much easier and cleaner. But in the end, it's your truck.

Re: 1972 c20 shortbed???
Do what you want, but consider the capability
of a long bed as a tow rig works a lot better than a short framed truck. Less sway and better handling in curves. It being a 3 quart makes it perfect to haul any loads.

Re: 1972 c20 shortbed???
Everyone always says short beds don't tow good but I have never had a problem with mine. Mine was a 1/2 ton and I put 3/4 ton running gear under it. Has a FI 383, T400, Gear Vendors, and a Corp 14 bolt rear. I have had this truck up to 70 mph and never had a problem. I have towed all over Calif and it will take any grade at 55/60 mph without any strain. Look at tractors that tow mobile homes it is a very short wheel base and if you build it right there will not be a problem towing.

I'll agree with this guy. Don't cut up that truck, its way to nice for that.

Oscar's got a plan. Can anyone photoshop his truck with the dually setup and wheels? Should be an easy makeover.

well here is something different ... ya wouldn't have to do a raised version, just run lower profile tires
