suburban sliding side windows

Has any body tried the wheatherstrip kit from classicparts for the sliding windows on a suburban? is it complete and does it fit?

i did the set from brothers without any problems it just took a long time to do each window

Was the brothers kit complete? I have four slides to do and don't want to order a kit that doesn't fit or have all the rubber. All my rubber and felt are shot.I'm rebuilding all the channels. I didn't think they were that bad til I got them out

Yes. There is no frame on a solid window. Its held in with only the rubber and you need spacers below the rubber to center the window in the opening.

If you want to try the Brothers kit then first do this, get a solid piece of 1X1 rubber, cut a 120 degree miter by hand and then fold it over to make a perfect contour shape, and do it twice in one piece with 2 smaller angles, or just order from Steele and they do it for you.

I got lucky; my project included Steele Rubber for all 4 sliders. I need some felt to do it right. Does anyone have a source or should I just hit the local upholstery shop?

I only made one cut per window using the Brothers kit. I wrapped the glass tightly and taped it down and when I reached the corner I cut both ends of the seal to fit. Installing the glass wasnt too bad but not fun either!! I agree that Steele makes excellent pieces. I need to redo some glass and may order from them. I just dont find glass a good time but I hate paying people to do what I can.

what felt? the one that slides into the vertical track between the windows? i have some! I need a piece of the small s shaped rubber that goes around the glass and over the painted lip on the outside!!!!!!!!!!

The felt that goes inside the frames on the quarter window sliders. Keeps the glass off the metal.

yes the sliders take window run, but if i'm not mistaken the slider stuff is wider. What I'm looking for usually comes in the kit. its sorta s shaped goes between the fixed slider and the body. need enough for one window.

No. all the sliding frames are a different shape. A left front will not fit a right rear.....

The front & rear windows are similar enough you could use fronts for rears if you cut off the mounting tabs & rewelded-basic shapes are the same. The front drivers would fit the rear pass, etc.

This info is incorrect unless you want to build complete frames out of the original front frames. I completely changed my glass to solid and the front does not match the rear. I will attempt to set up a pic to show the difference.

Here is an ORIGINAL rear glass piece on top of a template I made from my FRONT window frame......the difference in contour is evident.

I dunno-I got all 4 windows, they will fit in the front or the rear holes in my burb, only the mounting tabs are in different places, but maybe yours is different. The front pass fits the driver's rear, etc.
