Re: what did you get done 11/6/2011 change the clocks edition

Fixed a pesky heating issue by changing the thermostat on the Heap. My guess was correct, thermostat was sticking open causing a slow warmup.

Cleaned up and detailed (a little) the 283 in my '65 Chevelle, Corvette valve covers, along with some black and orange paint.

Took my '50 on a little cruise to a friends annual HotRod Picnic, this year's event drew 300 cars/trucks. Everything was cool until the cops showed up.

Aggravated the wife all day by telling her what time it should be. LOL!

Changed the plugs in mine, cranked the timing up a few degrees and took her out for a spin. It's going back to the transmission shop, again, this time to just fix a leak.

I had surgery about a month ago and I just got home from the hospital Thursday. I actually felt good enough to go out and start my 76 K10 and let it warm up. It was a good day!

Nothing truck related. My sons had livestock judjing Sat. at Texas A&M University. Oldest is in Senior div now and placed in the top 10 which is a good accomplishment. I bought a car this week and am having it shipped. Hopefully it will get here soon. I am a sucker for odd colored vehicles.

Glad she's Ok. It really sucks when your kid is sick, no matter what it is.

My daughter turned 3 last Wednesday, so we had her birthday party Saturday. It's a blast just watching kids that age. Everyone had a good time, ramped up on a sugar high from cupcakes. Since she went to bed early Saturday, it gave me a little time to work on my truck. I have been having a miss at idle, and been chasing my tail since I got it back in July. I have changed the plugs (twice), wires, cap, coil, distributor, and rotor. There really hasn't been much of a step forward; it still misses. It's even worse after a trip on the highway.

I had an engine given to me a couple of weeks ago, so I drove out to pick it up. Coming home, it started running horribly, and finally set a check engine light. Code 32 (EGR- shouldn't be an issue; as I deleted it, but haven't had a chip burned) and 42 (ESC bypass ). I have aftermarket wxhaust manifolds on the truck, and forund that the right side was really close to #2 spark plug wire. Swapped out the manifold, replaced the wires on the right side, and......
it still misses.

Looking at the engine I picked up (TBI 305- it was free.....) and see that the distributor body is mounted completely different. I noticed that I am all the way against the wire from the coil, so I still need to pull and re-orient the distributor body. I was going to do that yesterday, but ther ewas a chance of rain all day, and I have an open engine stuck in the back. Hopefully, this is the light at the end of the tunnel. Another thing, the replacement AC Delco wires suck. They have gone to one size fits all, and they really don't.

I did drive my new Mark VII a few times this week, and my daughter accepts it as a replacement for the Mustang. When she asks my wife if she likes it as much as we both do, there is silence. Still have a little work to to there.
